Why focus on skills?

What are essential skills?

Essential skills are sometimes known as soft skills. Eg. Communication, problem-solving, critical-thinking and leadership.

Most employers say soft skills play a critical role in their decision about whom they want to hire.

Most business leaders agreed that the growth of technology & Al will make spoken and listening skills more important for progression at work.

But schooling is just as knowledge-focused as ever.

The young people who will stand out in interviews or gain promotion are those who have developed their essential skills throughout their teens.

At Intrainship, we believe the best way to develop skills is by experiencing work and engaging in quality self-reflection and goal-setting with an expert careers coach.

Our Language Teaching
Methodology

Have any questions? Contact us.
All PLUS Intrainship courses are taught using the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology.
Students on a residential Intrainship programme receive 70 hours of English language teaching delivered through business and career skills tuition, as well as language specific to the particular Intrainship field (eg. marketing, engineering etc).

How Intrainship uses CLIL

Content and Language

CLIL is an approach to teaching where subjects are taught in a foreign language (English). The goal is to learn both the subject content and the language simultaneously. It's not just about
learning about something in English; it's about doing something with English.

Authentic Language Use

Intrainship provides a rich, real-world context for language learning. Students are using English
to communicate with mentors, collaborate with team members, conduct research, and present their work – just like they would in a real job.

Increased Motivation

Learning English through a practical, career-focused subject like finance, marketing or fashion, is highly motivating for EFL students. They see the direct relevance of their language skills to
their future goals.

Dual Focus

With the CLIL method, focus on skills (such as employability) or content is
increased. Students will feel challenged as if they can "learn more from the lesson".

Skill-Based Learning

CLIL encourages active learning and skill development. Students aren't just passively
absorbing information; they're actively using English to solve problems, create presentations,
and communicate their ideas.
